World Mental Health Day

General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III
Interim President

October 10, 2023

Members of the Aggie Family,

Today is World Mental Health Day, an opportunity to pause alongside colleagues and classmates and remember the importance of taking care of ourselves and each other. Our university community offers resources to support each and every Aggie. If you’re struggling at all, please take advantage of them.

I encourage you to explore and become familiar with the university’s mental health resources site, and I urge every student to download the TELUS Health Student Support app, which offers access to free and confidential mental health support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are at our flagship campus in Aggieland tomorrow, Oct. 11, I invite you to stop by the Howdy Health Fair in Rudder Plaza between 12 and 2 p.m. to visit with university and community partners working together to support our health and wellness.

There is absolutely nothing more important than our own mental health and well-being, and that of the people we live, work and learn beside. This is a great day to check in on that friend you’ve been worried about and let them know you care. It’s also a great day to remember that when the 12th Man stands together, no Aggie stands alone.

Thank you, and Gig ’em!
