Welcome Back, Students!

Dear students,
On behalf of everyone here, we are delighted – and relieved – to welcome you to campus for the first day of classes! My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by Hurricane Harvey. I am so very proud of how so many of you are responding to this disaster, from heroic efforts to save lives, to being kind to our visiting students evacuated from our Galveston campus, to joining together in groups to fulfill our wonderful core value of selfless service.
One such student group – BTHO Harvey – is collecting supplies now for delivery to the Houston area. Mrs. Young and I proudly support this effort and are dropping off our goods today. Please consider supporting this effort. For more information on drop off locations, visit here. As a university, we are encouraging financial donations be directed to the American Red Cross.
Welcome back or, if this is your first year here, then welcome! I hope you are as excited as I am for the coming year in Aggieland. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you get the most out of your time at Texas A&M. Squeeze every bit of value out of your time here, as it will go by more quickly than you can possibly imagine. Study and work hard. Seek small and large ways (as many of you have done this week) to live our Aggie core values of respect, excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity and selfless service.
I wish you a most happy and successful academic year. You are at a great university, and we know you will do great things.
Thanks and Gig 'em,
Michael Young
