Welcome Back, Faculty!

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Over the past year, I have learned a great deal about Texas A&M and the incredible scholars, thinkers, builders and creators who position us to do transformational research and teaching, distinguishing this institution as a national model of educational excellence. I have met with many faculty members from across all of our campuses, and listened to you speak about your areas of study. It is abundantly clear that we are not only shaping scholars, but also producing citizens of substance. I am excited to meet many more of you as the effort to do so on my part is far from over.

As we begin this new academic year, I want to encourage all of you to do the same. Turn to your colleague across the hall or across campus and inquire about what they are doing, and you too will be stunned to learn of the incredible things being accomplished every day in every single part of this great university. Understanding the excellent work others are doing on campuses will be interesting; more importantly, now more than ever, it is imperative that we are committed to communication and collaboration as we set out to solve today’s grand global challenges.

Looking ahead, we are poised to do not just good but great things in the coming year. My aim is to work with you to identify new ways to leverage our strengths, stimulate our thinking and build our momentum. To all of you, I want to express a heartfelt “thank you” for the extraordinary work that you do every single day.

Here's to a great year!

Mike
