The Spirit of Giving

I am pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new way to generate support for schools, departments and organizations at Texas A&M. The Spirit of Giving is a crowdfunding effort that will increase the opportunities for deans, administrators and student leaders to raise essential funds for special projects, programs and initiatives.
As a member of the Association of American Universities, Texas A&M is among the nation's most distinguished and productive research institutions. However, we are currently the only AAU institution that does not use crowdfunding to ensure that project-based smaller gifts can make a big difference. The Spirit of Giving will empower everyone with the ability to support their passions at Texas A&M at whatever level they are comfortable.
I recently proposed this new approach in collaboration with The Texas A&M Foundation. The first round of the program will be from Nov. 17 to Dec. 31. During that time, you will be able to donate to four main areas:
- Academics On Track: Tutoring Program Expansion
- Aggies For Aggies in Crisis: Student Emergency Fund
- Be A Lifeline: Peer-To-Peer Suicide Prevention Program
- Workforce Ready: Professional Clothing To Help Career-Bound Aggies
Every gift made to one of these projects will directly benefit students at Texas A&M. If you have programs that could use more funding, or innovative projects that you have wanted to create, I encourage you to submit a proposal to the Spirit of Giving crowdfunding portal.
After the initial period, we will promote university priorities throughout the year, allowing you to highlight specific programs or organizations for people to support. This is an unprecedented opportunity to invest in meaningful initiatives that sustain our core values. I look forward to your imaginative ideas and projects, which I am certain will enrich the lives of generations of Aggies far into the future.
Sincerely,
Michael K. Young
President
