Texas A&M President Michael K. Young has appointed Provost Carol Fierke to lead the university’s response to COVID-19.

As the university’s Chief Academic Officer, Fierke is already deeply involved in the planning and preparation for the return of students in the fall, and she has a long history of working with constituencies across the university to promote the safety and well-being of students, faculty and staff.

"The goal is to have a coordinated effort that ensures the highest level of safety for every member of our university community," said President Michael K. Young. "I have great confidence that Provost Fierke is the right person to lead our response to this complex challenge."

With this new responsibility, Fierke will collaborate with health experts and other key administrators to develop a comprehensive plan to help Texas A&M prepare to safely and responsibly welcome everyone back to the university in the fall.

In addition to updates on Texas A&M University’s website, Fierke has been updating messages and FAQs about policies on her website, provost.tamu.edu.
