Congratulations to the 26th President of Texas A&M

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Members of the Aggie Family:
It's official! Today The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents voted unanimously to name Dr. M. Katherine "Kathy" Banks as the 26th president of Texas A&M University.
I would like to thank my fellow members of the presidential search committee for their dedication and their service, and I want to congratulate Dr. Banks on this well-deserved honor.
I truly believe this is the beginning of a new era of optimism and advancement for Texas A&M. Dr. Banks is a renowned and respected scholar, educator and innovator. She understands the inner workings of a major research university, as well as the challenges and opportunities of being a student in a lecture hall or laboratory. In my interactions with her over the past 10 years, I can assure you that she also personifies our core values and cherishes our timeless traditions.
In the coming weeks, there is still much to do. I understand President-elect Banks intends to officially take the helm on June 1. I look forward to working with her and supporting her in every way as she plans and prepares to accept the mantle of leadership.
Please join me in congratulating President Banks, and welcoming her as the next great leader of Texas A&M University.
