Bonfire Remembrance
MICHAEL K. YOUNGPresident
November 17, 2017
I ask all Texas A&M University students, faculty, staff to pause and remember the 12 fallen Aggies who lost their lives 18 years ago on Nov. 18 at 2:42 a.m. in the collapse of the Aggie Bonfire.
The tragedy that looms large in our hearts nearly two decades later is a constant reminder that the spirit of unequivocal service to each other in times of need is the foundation of the Aggie experience.
This same spirit called Aggies to the site of the collapse where they came to the aid of their fellow Aggies, and is carried on through service projects such as BUILD, a student-led organization aimed at unifying Texas A&M's student body through building and sending portable medical clinics around the world in honor of those who lost their lives in the Bonfire collapse.
Please keep the fallen and their families in your thoughts on this 18th anniversary and take time to visit the Bonfire Memorial on campus to reflect.
