Announcing Texas A&M Teaching Site in Washington, D.C.

May 4, 2020

Dear Campus Community,

We are thrilled to announce plans to open a new Texas A&M University teaching site in Washington, D.C. just blocks from the White House. Our inaugural program will feature The Bush School of Government and Public Service, with plans for participation by other schools and colleges down the road. Pending necessary approvals, the site will open in the fall of 2020 with classes beginning in early 2021. I want to recognize the hard work of Mark Welsh, dean of the Bush School, and the team of dedicated faculty and staff who helped to get us to this place.

It is an honor to witness this very exciting chapter and natural next step for Texas A&M, and to come full circle, having worked for President Bush myself at the Department of State years ago. As Jeb Bush, President Bush’s son and former Florida Governor, said so aptly in his quote, Aggies are doers, leaders and selfless servants, and our nation and world will benefit from program participants.

With that, I add a “Whoop!”
