A Major Research Milestone!

JOHN L. JUNKINS
Interim President

February 10, 2021

We are very proud to announce that Texas A&M has reached a major landmark in our research efforts. For the first time in the university's history, our research expenditures have surpassed $1 billion - a total of $1.131 billion in 2020 to be exact.

This impressive achievement is a great tribute to the many men and women whose innovations and discoveries are helping Texas A&M solve the most complex challenges for our state and our world. The work of our faculty and teams exemplifies excellence - excellence in research, in teaching and in making a positive difference in people's lives. Each day they not only contribute to the advancement of our university and the fulfillment of our mission, but also to the betterment of our world.

We are very grateful to everyone who helped us reach this significant milestone, especially leaders in our Council of Principal Investigators, our Health Science Center and The Texas A&M University System Agencies, whose diligence and dedication ensure that our research is effective and impactful.

We also recognize and thank our many graduate and undergraduate students, as well as our postdoctoral scholars and researchers, who make valuable contributions in support of our research efforts.

I would also like to recognize Governor Abbott's Governor's University Research Initiative (GURI) and Chancellor Sharp's Chancellor's Research Initiative (CRI) for investing in efforts that help us better serve our important mission to the state of Texas and remain one of the most innovative and influential research universities in the nation.
