Howdy!
Texas A&M is returning to the South By Southwest Festival (SXSW) March 10-13 to showcase our remarkable research, innovations and thought leadership on a global stage.
Ours is one of a select few universities attending SXSW during “Innovation Week,” a time when hundreds of thousands of global attendees gather to celebrate the convergence of education, interactive, film and music industries.
We kicked it off already with an exciting "takeover" of the Austin-Bergstrom airport, where we are able to share our pride for Texas A&M with travelers from around the world coming to Austin for SXSW. We also thought it a fitting venue considering the airport is named for an Aggie, U.S. Air Force Capt. John August Earl Bergstrom '29.
Coming up this Sunday, we will open our Texas A&M [Power] House to SXSW attendees, inviting them to learn from and engage with our students, faculty and staff via interactive exhibits highlighting university research and scholarship.
Additionally, we are bringing in a wide range of world-renowned leaders to highlight Texas A&M's significant work in numerous areas including national defense, digital technology and health care.
In addition to events at our house and the Austin Convention Center, several members of the Aggie community are presenting at SXSW on a variety of interesting topics.
A full description of Texas A&M at SXSW is available at the SXSW site.
I wish to thank the many students, faculty and staff who are working hard to bring Texas A&M at SXSW to life for hundreds of thousands of visitors.
And I am looking forward to seeing Aggie research, discovery and innovation once again in the spotlight.
Thanks and Gig 'Em!
